Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a exhibition event held on November 2, 2023, 2023 (Day 225), to celebrate the Día de Muertos.[2]

History[]

With the arrival of November, one of the most important celebrations for México is just around the corner, El Día de Muertos! It's a huge commemoration that honors the departed, a time to remember those who are no longer with us.[3]

Symbols[]

A Path from Mictlán[]

Streets bloom with cempasúchil, guiding spirits with their scent and color. In cemeteries or at home, people draw art on sawdust rugs, adorning with papel picado and devotion, offerings linking the living world to Mictlán, the world of the departed.

Illuminating the Path of the Living...[]

We attend festivals that enrich our culture. El Desfile de Catrinas and Gran Desfile del Día de Muertos are among the events that accompany this celebration. There are who prefer to write in verses and rhymes Calaveritas literarias.

Amid Scents and Flavors...[]

Trays are filled with Pan de Muerto, a soft and sweet bread, as well as calaveritas de azúcar, edible artisanal figures in the shape of a skull. A portion of the food is lovingly and respectfully placed on the altars for our departed loved ones.

Wear Tradition[]

La Catrina stands as one of the most significant icons of this celebration. Dressing up as skulls or characters from national myths and legends is also a great idea. Now that you know about this amazing tradition, enjoy each activity ¡Feliz Día de Muertos!

Activities[]

Embracing the beauty and tradition of Día de Muertos, our guests have shown up in stunning and heartfelt attire for the occasion. Through its vibrant tissue paper meticulously cut into elaborated designs representing joy, life, and celebration, islanders were able to be stunned right at Spawn with the papel picado. Each representing a part of the island, themselves.

The entrance gate was beautifully and colorfully welcoming. Right after crossing it, between playful rhymes, the Calaveritas Literarias were displayed, celebrating everyone's lives and reminding them to embrace the fleeting nature of our existence.

With its intricate shape reflecting the interconnectedness of life and death while celebrating the beauty of remembrance, the Árbol de la Vida stood fiercely in the middle, honoring the festivity.

Enchanting all the eyes, the Alebrije could not have been missed! This colorful, imaginative sculpture symbolizes the spiritual world, having the beautiful purpose of guiding souls on their journey.

Vibrantly and symbolically, the adorned altares honored our departed loved ones with their favorite items, foods, and cherished mementos. A heartfelt tribute celebrating life beyond boundaries.

Gracefully remembered for her backflips, JuanaFlippa, the beloved daughter of Slimecicle and ElMariana, shared a heart-touching, pink-colored altar in the first row.

Gifting us with his memorable and strong aura, Bobby, the fearless son of Roier and Jaiden, was remembered through his blue-themed altar, adorned with all of his most cherished mementos.

Tilín, the sweet child of Quackity, was beautifully remembered with all the most precious memories and items displayed on the vibrant red altar, symbolizing the love Tilín shared with others.

Melodying his way into everyone's hearts, Trump, the playful son of Maximus and DanTDM, had his tributes displayed over a beautiful yellow-themed altar at the back row.

A special altar stood among the others, honoring a dear and cherished friend, Technoblade, who will always be remembered for his kindness. Just as they say, through his legacy, Technoblade never dies. So long, nerd.

Reviving their dearest moments, a beautiful exhibition of stunning artworks was inside the colorful museum, bringing warm memories to everyone as they went over lovely pieces.

Guided through love and cherished memories, the beloved children returned for the day, gracing everyone's presence for a fleeting yet tearful moment, bringing joy and sharing the special occasion with their closest friends and family through playfulness and laughter.

  4. It is believed that at the time of death, the circumstances of your death will dictate where your soul will rest. But before that, you had to go through 9 levels. The dogs (specifically the xoloitzcuintles) were in charge of guiding you through the first level, helping you cross the river. They will refuse to help you if you haven't been good with dogs in life. All those who died of natural causes go to Mictlán.
  5. The souls of children who died prematurely go to Chichihualcuauhco. There they would be safe until they have the opportunity to be born again, being fed by a tree whose fruits simulated breasts and breast milk.Tezcatlipoca is one of the most important gods in mythology, being the creator of heaven and earth, and lord of all things. A double god who would bestow good and bad things at his mercy. And in this case, it's going to give premature children the opportunity to reincarnate.
  6. All those who have died from lightning, drowning, or any water-related cause find their way to Tlalocan. It is described as a place of joy amid rivers and plentiful springs, teeming with trees and abundant sustenance, where souls could spend their existence. Tlaloc is the god of rain, lightning, and earthquakes.
  7. The souls of warriors who perished in combat or through sacrifice find their way to Tonatiuhichan. It is depicted as a sprawling valley adorned with flourishing woodlands and colorful gardens, a realm where they would never experience sorrow or suffering, a haven where they would while away their time in joyful play, much like children. Enjoying the scent and nectar of the flowers, singing until sunset. And thus, four years would pass, as afterwards, they could roam their land in the form of a hummingbird or some other beautiful bird. Tonatiuh, the god of the fifth sun; or simply the god of the sun.
