Etoiles (Et-Wah-l) is an Algerian French speaking member of the QSMP, who was announced on May 11, 2023, and joined for the first time on May 16, 2023.[1]
He is portrayed by the content creator of the same name.
Personality
Etoiles is a tryharder who loves exploring the island and its dungeons, looting every possible item and crafting more and more powerful weapons and armour. He likes action, is ingenious, inventive and does very well on his own. He often brags about his exploration distance, which is currently at 157k+ blocks away from the spawn.
Despite his great need for adventure and spending most of his time exploring, he gets on well with the other inhabitants of the island, has very good relationships with all the French people and their adoptive daughter Pomme. He's a great jokester and loves complimenting people and encouraging them to excel. He is also very generous and gives a lot of items to the other residents : his explorations allow him to offer a variety of presents, from decorative items to powerful and rare weapons.
He likes to appear mysterious and detached, but in reality he enjoys making his friends' lives easier by helping them in any way he can to ensure they all have fun together. He's very committed to helping other residents complete various quests, and is always ready to go and rescue someone who needs help, whether it's because they're fighting monsters, have fallen off a wall or have been kidnapped by The Federation.
Baghera Jones when describing him to Pomme : "C'est notre philosophe. Etoiles, c'est celui qui va te raconter des histoires magnifiques, qui va t'apprendre plein de choses" (He's our philosopher. He's the one who'll tell you beautiful stories and teach you so much stuff).
Physiology
Etoiles has a green skin due to his cucumber appearance, he wears a mask over his eyes referring directly to the French comic book series "Le concombre masqué" by Mandryka. His skin is often thought of more like a kind of ninja turtle than an actual cucumber. When Richarlyson and Forever asked about it, Etoiles answered he was a masked cucumber, or a ninja cucumber, and that he was not a man dressed up as a cucumber. He usually wears a white t-shirt with a yellow Pacman in the middle (a character he loves and is his main in SSBU) and green shorts.
For the Festa Junina event, Etoiles came with a bodyguard costume. The costume consists of a black suit, a white shirt and a long black tie. He also wore a pair of glasses to replace his black mask, and a wired headset in his right ear.
He has another formal outfit, which he used for the first time at the presidential dinner. It's a white shirt with a yellow suit vest over it. There's a Pacman in the back of the suit vest, in a lighter yellow. He also wears green pants and yellow and black shoes.
After getting the complete sword of the codes, Etoiles's body is starting to be damaged by the shield because he held it for too long.

Very PositiveThey are good friends who knew each other before coming to the island. They like to joke around and tease each other. Etoiles likes to bring Antoine resources and gifts. Despite sometimes putting on a fake annoyed attitude when Antoine asks for items, he makes it a priority to craft him what he needs and always looks for resources Antoine might need when adventuring. They sometimes jokingly flirt with each other, giving each other pet names such as "my love," "my sweetheart," or "my husband IRL."
Very PositiveEtoiles respects Aypierre and his vast knowledge, and also likes to banter with him. They're partners in crime, and it's with him that Etoiles talks most about theorycrafting and optimization strategies, in particular to be at the top of the election leaderboards. They joke that together they could destroy The Federation if they had the means to do so.
Aypierre is one of his closest friend and his official potions provider on the island. Etoiles tells him everything and trusts him with all his secrets.
Very PositiveThey like to trash talk but still respect and like each other very much. He admires her social skills and often comes to her for an update on what's happening on the island. They trust each other, whether it's to take care of Pomme or to be there for each other if anything goes wrong. He often gives her gifts to build her house or to protect herself.
Very PositiveThey're really good friends, like to joke around together, and Etoiles has been missing him since he left. In the hope that he will return after buying cigarettes, Etoiles has prepared resources, armor, and weapons for him. He would like to explore with him.
Very PositiveEtoiles really enjoys talking with BadBoyHalo about the challenging aspects of their life on the island, especially exploration and the resources available in the dungeons, as they are the two residents who explore the most. Every time they see each other, they discuss their discoveries and the weapons they possess.
They often exchange valuable resources to help each other, share information and explore together. Etoiles praises Bad a lot: they're both very good warriors, they're similar in many ways and have mutual respect for each other. They had a discussion where they said they both had methods to stop the effects of totems, enderpearl stasis, or waystones, even though they most likely won't use them.
When Etoiles learns from Tubbo that Bad has kidnapped a Federation worker, he realizes that his friend tried to tell him since a while ago by dropping hints. Etoiles decides to keep this information to himself to avoid confirming everyone's suspicions and to protect his friend.
Family
Family Very PositiveHe would give Pomme everything she asked for and protect her with his life. Since Etoiles has been devoting part of his time to building his base with her, their bond has grown much stronger. He likes to tease Pomme when they're together, especially about the manic aspect of her personality. He teaches her how to fight and how to do MLG, he takes her to dungeons, but he also talks to her about general culture, art movements, and tells her bedtime stories. He loves her very much and wants to kill the Binary Code Entity to protect her.
Family Very PositiveEtoiles thinks highly of Dapper's combat skill, jokingly saying that he might be stronger than the Binary Code Entity. He also jokes that BadBoyHalo is actually Dapper's egg and not the other way around. He is happy to fight alongside Dapper. He called him "my man," "the goat," "the main character," "the true Binary Code," and "the D." He also referred to Dapper as the "son he never had" after the latter gave him four pieces of dark metal.
Very PositiveEtoiles is happy whenever he sees Richarlyson, they always greet each others with friendly slaps and Etoiles calls him "my petit frérot" ("my little bro" in french but with an american accent). He was the first of the French Richarlyson started referring to as "Tio", with Richarlyson later calling him "Tonton". Etoiles stated multiple times that he considers Richarlyson like his son even if that relationship isn't official.
At the end of Purgatory, Etoiles tried to save Richarlyson from the earthquake and almost succeeded. His failure in doing so deeply affected him.
Islanders
Very PositiveEtoiles and Philza get along well, with Phil enjoying Etoiles' sense of humour in particular. Etoiles is eager to help Phil overcome his apprehension of dungeons and even went on a dungeon search with him for Chayanne and Tallulah as part of the egg quests as Phil trusts Etoiles to protect the eggs. Etoiles helped Phil a lot with understanding the mods’ weapons, giving him materials and telling him which ones are the most efficient. Etoiles likes to see Phil and tell him his most recent discovery on the weapons resulting in Phil calling him the meta king.
They gained each other's trust and respect, fighting together against the code monsters, Etoiles offering the kill of the fake Chayanne to him. Etoiles also entrusted Phil to take care of Pomme when he got followed by The Federation or had to fight the Code.
PositiveAfter receiving a number of Mending books from him, Etoiles swore to aid Foolish in his times of need. Etoiles loves to taunt him, asking him if he needs security when they bump into each other. He also values his building skills since he visited Cellbit's Castle and the Titan, and he asked him to help with the construction of his basement. Etoiles explained that he was probably the one who made him laugh the most on the island.
PositiveEtoiles loves chatting with Quackity, always having a great time with him and gently mocking Quackity's lack of resources. He took him to his first dungeon and hopes to do more with him in the future. He also gives him items when he meets him, compliments him, and motivates him to become better.
After a deep conversation, Quackity seemed both confused and impressed by Etoiles' way of thinking, telling him he might be the most intelligent person he has spoken to and being quite interested in his "running as far as possible from problems" philosophy. Etoiles is quick to notice when Quackity isn't doing well and always tries to cheer him up. After learning of his supposed disappearance, he said he wanted to rescue him.
After Quackity's reappearance, he visited him, worried about the consequences of his kidnapping. He gave him a backpack with armor and other gifts with Pomme, helped him with his house, took him to the spawn and showed him his base, all without making Quackity feel umcomfortable by asking him questions. He was frustrated and saddened when he realised Quackity didn't remember him, trying multiple times to make Quacks call him "Elotes" like he used to. Etoiles was also glad to see Quackity still trusted and liked him as he tried hard to defend him from monsters and laughed with him. Etoiles insisted on wanting to make Quackity happy.
PositiveOn the first day of the French on the QSMP, Etoiles asked if Cellbit would have a sword for him, so he gave him an iron sword and said he would protect him at all costs. On June 9, Etoiles noticed how sad Cellbit was during Festa Junina and showed a lot of concern when he was drunk, giving him water and praising him.
PositiveEtoiles and Pac both wear Pac-Man t-shirts, leading them to talk together. They fought each other for fun on Bobby's trial and bonded. Etoiles really likes the duo that Pac and Mike form together.
He never really noticed Pac's crush on him, but he likes talking to him and enjoys the attention Pac gives him. He often calls him "legend" when Pac replies to him in chat, when he sees him, or when he talks about him to other people.
PositiveEtoiles really likes the duo formed by Pac and Mike. He finds Mike's chaotic mind very funny.
PositiveBonding over Smash, Etoiles gave him armor, blind test, and lots of laughs. Told him about the sweeping edge bug.
Neutral/NegativeEtoiles behaves with ElQuackity the same way he would with Quackity, by helping or checking up on him. During the elections, he is wary of him but stays on good terms. Etoiles acknowledges however that this is not Quackity and that he is clearly linked with the Federation. After the last encounter between ElQuackity and Pomme, he has a less positive opinion of him and thought about a plan to play the double agent, thanks to his good relationship with him.
Neutral/PositiveAfter he was mocked by Tubbo for his loss against the Code which deprived him of his shield and sword, Etoiles declared war to him, making Tubbo his only enemy.
They started to get along much better during the Purgatory Event. Tubbo gained some respect in Etoiles’ eyes as an honorable and strong warrior, and they even fell into habit of PVP each other for fun. After returning to the main island this positive relationship between them stayed, and Etoiles even went out of his way to become friends with Tubbo’s daughter SunnySideUp by giving her diamonds.

PositiveEtoiles, from the moment he met Pepito, felt a connection with Pepito. According to him, Pepito and him shares the same personality and the same sense of humour. He considers him his son, just like he does with Pomme, Dapper and Richarlyson.

PositiveEtoiles respects Technoblade and fondly remembers the time he played in a UHC event with him back in 2017, saying he had a lot of fun with him.
Neutral/PositiveOn day 84, Etoiles ran into Quackity, who explained that he was being followed by a Worker called Walter Bob and asked him to look after him before he left. Etoiles was reluctant at first but then had fun with him: they played a trivia game, Etoiles asking questions, and Walter answering them. Etoiles tried to win a Nightmare Claw, but Walter told him "I might get punished" so he gave up the idea.
Neutral/PositiveEtoiles has won 16 fights against the Codes and lost only once on day 190. He is the one who encountered and fought it the most, and he is always excited to see it - he's a fighter who wants to protect his daughter Pomme and everyone else but he also enjoys those who fights a lot. He often taunts the Code orally or in the chat, saying he's bored and wants to fight it.
During the Elections dinner he killed the fake Tallulah and downed the fake Chayanne, offering the last hit to Philza. During several fights he also killed the fake Dapper, the fake Pomme and 5 other nameless Codes. Whenever Etoiles is attacked, the Code is spawning more mobs and they're way more powerful than when it’s attacking other people. He's also the only person who had to fight two Codes at the same time and it happened two times already.
On day 139, the Code led Etoiles into the Nether where he was trapped for 10 days. There, he retrieved the unique and very powerful CPV2 shield that goes head to head with the mysterious sword of the Code : he became the target of the Code who tried to kill him on 3 occasions.
Their biggest fight yet happened on day 166 where Etoiles had a 3 phases fight in a special coliseum. He killed 3 different Codes, two nameless ones and the fake Pomme who appeared for the first time. It was also their toughest battle to date, with each entity harder to beat than the last, and with a significant psychological aspect since Etoiles had to decide to kill a Code with the appearance of his daughter. His victory enabled him to win the Code’s sword, which, although broken in two, is incredibly powerful. He later found a binary message telling him to « PROTECT PEOPLE ! » and he fears the Code might go after everyone and every egg, especially Pomme.
On Day 189, Etoiles prepared for what seems to be the final fight between him and the entity, but what he didn't count on is that the Code has no problem using cheats through commands as a last resort in order to kill him dishonorably. Because of this, BadBoyHalo and Philza have said multiple times that the Code has an obsession on killing Etoiles and it's wailing to go such lengths to abuse the power and use it through dishonorable means.
Following his loss against the Code on day 190 where he lost his beloved shield and sword, Etoiles almost gave up on his career as a warrior. However, the Code's provocations pushes him to go back on the battlefield. After his last fight against the Code, it asks him to become allies against the Federation, proposition to which Etoiles agrees immediately, and gives him back his shield. Even though Etoiles is it's ally, he still doesn't trust it fully and is ready to go back on their alliance if the Code attacks his loved ones.
Very NegativeEtoiles is desperately waiting for the Federation to fight him with his full Dark Metal Armor set. He doesn't trust them. His dream is to be hunted by the Federation 100k blocks away from the spawn.
Very PositiveThey're really great friends who like to tease each other. They got to interact when Horty visited the island through Baghera.
Neutral/PositiveEtoiles is a new member of the Resistance and is not yet familiar with all the secrets of this anti-Federation organization. Although he does not hesitate to carry out the missions assigned to him, he has been very clear about not fully trusting the Codes who are under the orders of the Resistance and that he would not hesitate to attack them if they were to harm his loved ones.

NeutralEtoiles thinks Forever is one of the most trustworthy members of the server and is grateful for his help protecting the eggs. On the other end, Forever thinks very highly of Etoiles' skills. Etoiles was, however, very weirded out when he heard how Forever hurt Leonarda in a surge of anger, and he wouldn't forget it.
With the elections and the race for leaderboards, they entered into a friendly competition to see who comes out on top. During a discussion about the elections, Forever said that he considered Etoiles to be a very powerful person, who could be one of the most dangerous people on the island. He seemed to be afraid of him, or afraid that he might decide to murder someone, and Etoiles found it amusing.

Character
- Unlike a headcanon that has become popular among fans, Etoiles is not blind. He chose to have white eyes because he found it stylish.[5]
- The Sharpness V pink wool block Etoiles acquired after being defeated by the code was named "Avast." A reference to a a common Antivirus software.
- Etoiles has obtained an overpowered stick named "CONSOLATION PRIZE :)" given to him by Cucurucho. It is enchanted with Sharpness 50, Smite 255, and Unbreaking 255. He has accidentally placed down the click and begged for it back on several occasions.
- Through his warrior spirit, Etoiles is able to see in his dreams any fights that occur during his absences. Along with being able to see when people have used his image in negative ways (for example: Tubbo's forged image of him and Pac on a date,)[6]
Content Creator
- Minecraft is one of his favourite games, he's been playing it for years and is a very good pvp player. He's done a lot of UHC, played a lot on servers like Badlion and taken part in a lot of international minecraft events. That's how he met Technoblade and teamed up with him in "United UHC". He also came across Spreen like this in 2017, they fought in a tournament and Etoiles killed him.
- In real life, he's good friends with all the French streamers. He's part of "La team du lundi" with Antoine, Baghera, Horty and Mynthos (a group that streams together on most Mondays, they did a SMP), has been playing minecraft with Aypierre for years and has been a close friend of Kameto for a long time.
- When doing a improvised streamed DJ set with Antoine, the duo was called "Insuline et Nicotine". The name refers to Etoiles' diabetes and Antoine's vaping habit.
- Like all the French team (except Aypierre), he took part in the 2022 Pixel War on Reddit alongside Kameto to fight against the American and Spanish communities, and helped France make its mark on the event.
- Etoiles took part in the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024 editions of the ZEvent (each French member on the server took part at least twice). It's an annual charity event created by Zerator (one of France's biggest streamers) : for 3 days, French-speaking streamers all stream from the same location and collect donations for charity. With €10.1 million raised in 2022 for environmental associations, Zevent holds the world record for the highest-grossing charity event on Twitch.
- He was involved in RPZ, a two-week RP event organised by Zerator on Grand Theft Auto V in 2021. He was playing as Rayou White, a doctor
- He's also a tryharder on other games. For example, he won the 2021 edition of the ZLAN, in a team with two friends (including Kenny) against 64 other trios : it's a 3-day multigaming competition, very hard to win, organised by Zerator (one of France's biggest streamers) with a cash prize of 50,000€.
- He's very strong on SSBU, where he mains Pac-man. He often takes part in tournaments and also comments on the world's biggest tournaments on his channel. In March 2023, he attended Smash Ultimate Summit 6 in Los Angeles to provide French commentary. He won the Celebrity Bracket side event where he beat Hungrybox, a legendary player.
- He likes to do cultural streams, such as "La nuit de la culture" (Night of culture) where he answers trivia questions. He also does museum and historic sites visits (Versailles with Kameto, Orsay with Antoine, Centre Pompidou...) with French streamers. Pac and Mike were really interested and asked him for the VODs.
