The Purgatory 2, or QSMP Purgatory Worldwide Tournament, is a Main Event of the QSMP and the second edition of Purgatory. It consisted of 4 events, spanning across 5 days.
The server operated from December 18th to 22nd, from 8 am to 8 pm PST. However, participants were restricted to a 5-hour playtime per day. The Purgatory events were narrated by ElQuackity.
It was first announced on November 18, 2023 (Day 240) after the Purgatory Event finals.
Prior to the Event[]
December 12, 2023[]
While hanging out around the spawn location, Fit and Pac were interrupted by a pair of Purgatory Workers requesting that the two of them would take them to their leader, mentioning that this person belonged to them[2]. Uncertain as to whom they were referring to, Fit and Pac tried to guide the workers to the president's office and to the Cucurucho NPC. However, this didn't seem to be the person these two were looking for, specifying that they wanted to be taken to this leader as they were looking for their creature.
After Philza's brief appearance, the workers started getting aggressive as they grew impatient. A fight breaks out[3] between the two groups and Pac gets downed. Regardless, they eventually manage to make the two workers run off into the distance, saving themselves from the fight.
December 13, 2023[]
After a cryptic tweet from Quackity Studios and QSMP Events welcoming Tubbo, the sky of Quesadilla Island turned red[4]. Anxious of what was about to happen, the residents that were awake at the time, united at Tubhaus where they chatted, before Tubbo suddenly vanished from thin air[5]. The members who stayed behind were then haunted by diverse natural disasters. It was at this moment that Fit realized that the leader mentioned the day before was not the leader of the Island, but the leader of Team Soulfire.
Upon opening his eyes again, Tubbo found himself on a desert[6], where he met the Purgatory Workers that arrived to the island the day before. He named them Blinks and Cornea. They asked him to follow them and guided him to a shipwreck full of radioactive containers. There he was greeted by a glowing eye into the Purgatory 2 event. Tubbo didn't seem convinced about the offer, as it would involve leaving Sunny behind, but the Workers told him he didn't have an option.
So he followed the protocol and signed himself up into Purgatory 2, getting greeted by a video explaining the event and revealing his Seat and Code[7].
December 14, 2023[]
During a conversation with Richarlyson, Pac finds out the sky turned red and decided to meet up with the other members that are online at the time at spawn. Before Pac is about to say anything, he is teleported away from the group and into the desert of Purgatory[8].
This causes Pac to become scared when he finds a Purgatory Worker and was given a book, telling him to follow them. While following, he asks if the worker in question is not gonna kill him, but he was ignored and when he finds the same shipyard Tubbo spotted, he began to feel scared. Pac asks the Worker if they promised if they are keeping everyone safe and not cause any harm, but the Worker tells him that they will not promise anything.
After boarding the shipyard full of radioactive containers and reading a book saying he received a message, Pac is forced to sign himself up into Purgatory 2 and it's greeted by an explanatory video and reveals his Seat and Code[9].
December 17, 2023[]
Upon entering Purgatory, ElQuackity discovered extensive destruction caused by the nuclear bomb, rendering it nearly obliterated[10]. The environment appeared biohazardous, requiring purgatory workers to wear hazmat suits and masks. He assessed the status and progress of the Purgatory 2 event by checking on the workers.
Start of the Event - December 18th[]
The first day of Purgatory 2 served as an introduction of all the participants. The participants were assigned to the following teams: Axolotl, Squirrel, Goose, Crow, Capybara, Panda, Raccoon, and Crab. The participants have familiarized themselves within their respective teams and have chosen a leader. They have begun gathering resources to survive and prepare for the following days. Additionally, teams will have to complete tasks; the number of tasks accomplished will determine the health of their egg in the first event, Egg Wars.
On the first day, Panda Team won first place, while Goose Team placed second, and Squirrel Team placed third.
First Event[]
Egg Wars[]
The second day of Purgatory 2 hosted the first event, Egg Wars. On this day, two of the teams were eliminated. The remaining players survived and moved on to day three.
Before the start of the first event, the teams were sent to two separate arenas, with four teams on each. They all had 30 minutes to build a base and hide their egg in it.
After the start of the event, the players had to protect their eggs and attack others. If a team's egg died, they were not removed from the event and had to attack the other teams' eggs.
The winning teams were Team Panda and Team Squirrel, who gained immunity. The eliminated teams were Team Axolotl and Team Crab.
Second Event[]
Eternal Battlegrounds[]
The third day of Purgatory 2 hosted the second event, Eternal Battlegrounds. On this day, two of the teams were eliminated. The remaining players survived and moved on to day four.
Before the start of the second event, the teams were sent to two separate arenas, with three teams on each.
After the start of the event, the players had to place their flags and conquer as many areas as possible. There were 5 rounds in total.
The winning teams were Team Crow and Team Capybara, who gained immunity. The eliminated teams were Team Squirrel and Team Panda.
Third Event[]
Infernal Waters[]
The fourth day of Purgatory 2 hosted the third event, Infernal Waters. After this day, only two teams will remain. These teams will have to survive and prepare themselves for the final event.
Before the start of the third event, the teams were sent to an arena, with two teams on each side. This was a 2v2 event and there were 5 rounds in total.
After the start of the event, the teams had to choose a player to control the computer, where they could place boats and release missiles.
The winning teams were Team Racoon and Team Crow. The eliminated teams were Team Goose and Team Capybara.
Final Event[]
Bloody Manhunt[]
The fifth day of Purgatory 2 hosted the final event, Bloody Manhunt.[11] On this day, teams were dissolved and players vied against eachother to emerge as the solo champion of the Purgatory 2, with only the ultimate victor earning the reward.
At the start of the event, players went sent to a Backrooms labyrinth, where they had to find buttons and keycards to reach an elevator and enter the next section of the maze. Only a specific amount of players could proceed to the next area.
During the game, the players were chased by Dark Buddies with chainsaws; If they were caught and killed by these creatures, they were sent back to the spawn section of the map.
Team Crow members SeaPeeKay, Aldo, Wuant and Mike were the four remaining members by the semi-final elevator stage.
The two players to get through the final elevator, Wuant and Aldo, were sent to a chess-themed arena, where they had to give up all of their items and fist fight to death.
The winner of this event, and solo champion of Purgatory 2, was Aldo.
Natural Disasters[]
The Natural Disasters are randomised modded events that typically make an aspect of gameplay more difficult for the players. More details about this mechanic can be found at Natural Disasters.
Sinners[]
Each sinner received an invite to Purgatory 2 and a one word of a longer Morse code message. The message is incomplete at this time.
