Hi, Admin Neovres here, and this is The Wrong Timezone Show Starring QSMP Wiki! As the interview is hosted via DMs, don't worry about answering right away - take as much time as you need. How are you feeling after competing in Purgatory II? Was there anything in the event you want to highlight, maybe something that particularly affected you as a person or as a creator?
Oh I’m feeling a little bit empty, I miss the suffering and war 😪 The spotlight for me belongs to the Items/Blocks delivery, the competition was so fun and exciting, getting to know the winners only in the last minutes was awesome. And sure, the community in general was a deciding factor, feeling loved and getting the kindness of the QSMP fandom is awesome, they’re so hyped for everything that’s involved with QSMP and go deep in lore, fanarts, cheering for relationships between characters, that’s so fun. I'm certainly gonna miss this experience for the rest of my entire life and my doors will always be open for any QSMP projects.
- Neovres
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing you in future projects! Speaking of that, were you aware of QSMP before the event? How did you discover it? Did you watch the first Purgatory?
Oh so, I didn’t even know about the Purgatory’s existence and when the second one was announced I promptly submitted a application cuz I already knew the main QSMP island, so anything involved with the QSMP general project would be AMAZING. So when I got the confirmation of the application I decided to not see anything about the first edition so my participation would be all made by my first impressions.
- Neovres
Ohh, that's certainly an interesting approach, I must admit that. Did you have any expectations at all then? Maybe there was something that surprised you nonetheless?
I was expecting just to make that chaotic place more chaotic, but at the same time I got surprised by making new friends, tested my communication skills and principally and more surprisingly I got so much fun, I was a little bit nervous about the COMPETITION, at the same time that I didn’t want to get all serious and competitive I was like YEA I WILL TAKE THIS PRIZE AND BE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ON THIS FUCKING ISLAND lol
- Neovres
And it did pay off because your team survived four whole days of Purgatory after all!
But in the final I was so “damn, I had so many things to show, they need to know how truly I am, I just wanted to make stupid jokes about everything and now my chance is gone” 😭
- Neovres
Happens to the best of us unfortunately, but what about focusing on what you did manage to do? Did you execute everything you wanted to lore-wise, character-wise? Or did you prioritize just having fun in the event over roleplaying?
About the lore, NO. I had so many ideas but the chaotic ambient of the Purgatory didn't give me space to introduce what I wanted ahahah and my teammates weren’t SO into role playing so I didn’t try at all. I had a deep background story about a fallen angel turned into a devil and other exciting things.
- Neovres
Purgatory WAS very chaotic, that is true hahah What you're describing sounds really interesting, do you have any personal projects or other things planned moving forward?
Thats hard, I have a lot of plans on papers but some are hard to take it off.
- Neovres
Earlier you mentioned making friends and communication, was it difficult to interact with people who didn't speak the same language as you?
I dunno, I think the language wasn’t a problem, I just was shy at all ahahah I have a little bit of difficulty to be myself with people who I don’t know very well.
- Neovres
Yet you did manage to make new friends which is awesome! Who do you think was a person you got along the best with? Who from the other teams would you like to have gotten to know better?
I was very happy to get along with Bagi!!! She’s a very nice and talented person, it was awesome play on her team. And sadly, I didn’t have a chance to talk more with Febatista, he’s a really cool guy and we still sent each other DMs after the Purgatory! I really liked to interact with non portuguese speaking creators and I also started Spanish classes seriously, probably in the future I’ll have another way to comunicate 😼
- Neovres
That's amazing to hear, I myself started learning Spanish because of QSMP as well! I hope you get more chances to hang out with the people you made friends with, and good luck with your own projects 👀 Speaking of languages, what is your favorite word/phrase in another language that you learned during Purgatory? Also, since you're eager to participate in future events like this, are there any specific languages you'd want included so you could interact with the content creators who speak them?
For the Purgatory I took lessons of two languages, Spanish and French, my French is resumed by je mange unne pomme LOL My spanish is getting better, I can introduce myself like Hola yo soy Scott, me gusta la manzana, me gusta el pan y leche y quiero un refrigerador grande. About getting better in specific languages, I really would like to get better in Spanish, sounds fun and there’s a lot of similar words to Portuguese.
- Neovres
Muy bien español, entendí todo! And I agree, Spanish is very fun but so is Portuguese! Like you're saying, a lot of words are similar to Spanish so it's pretty easy to learn both of them at the same time. It seems like you loved the event as a whole, but what are the memories you liked THE MOST from Purgatory?
I can tell you this by two forms, for the EVENT Purgatory itself, I REALLY enjoyed the second event about the flags. IT WAS INSANE, the first rounds were terrible and everyone was sad and unmotivated but we, the Capybara team, turned the game and in the 1v1 to win the day our leader won, it was insane. Now telling you by the more striking experience was about being a content creator on a QSMP project, I’m on the internet like about 20 years and never felt so loved by a community, I don’t think I’ll live that again.
- Neovres
The Eternal Battlegrounds was an intense one indeed, required good teamwork and strategy as well as PvP skills and Team Capybara proved to have it all! The fight was tough but you guys didn't give up and your determination granted you a win! I can only imagine how remarkable the experience of being part of this project must've been. The QSMP community definitely belongs amongst the most welcoming and kind ones, and from what we know it's still only the beginning! The world of content creation drastically changes as we speak and it's certainly in a positive way, at least from my perspective. Seeing how it develops I'm sure you'll have more opportunities like this in the future. Of course every single one is unique and there will never be a same one as Purgatory II. Both gameplay and community aspects of Purgatory were crucial in going through the event. Are there any skills you possess that you found particularly useful during Purgatory II? Maybe something that gave you advantage over other players?
I dont think so, I’m not a PVP professional or survivalist like the french members of my team but for sure I’m VERY ANNOYING in persisting, if I believe it's possible to win I will try it UNTIL I WIN, so when the guys of the team asked for one specific block I just left and then came back with 264773 of that block ahaha But during the Purgatory I discovered that I’m okay at PVP, I thought that I was terrible at PVP but when needed I didn’t disappoint, the french even appraised me 😼
- Neovres
That's the spirit! And very cool that you discovered your PvP potential in Purgatory too, that might come in handy in the future 👀 Anything else you want to share? Maybe there is something specific, any interesting detail, you'd like to canonize about your character? Something that for example is not on the Wiki but you'd want to include it on your page or just let people know?
Oh sure, I dunno if it’s normal or if other players of Purgatory made a lore, how I said i imagined a few things but i don’t know if I wanna be the only one with a background story ahaha
- Neovres
Don't worry, I can assure you a lot of the creators had some lore going in Purgatory, some of them even decided to make it a part of a bigger story for their character! If you want to create lore that is based on or includes Purgatory, you can do it even if others don't, I'm sure people would be interested to hear any story you might have in mind :]] Obviously it's equally fine if you decide against it!
Is it okay if I send it in Portuguese?
- Neovres
Not a problem at all!
Q!Scott lore which Scott provided can be found here.
- Neovres
Wow, you seem to have had the whole backstory of your character in your back pocket this whole time!! Is it solely Purgatory lore or just the beginning of something bigger? I'd be curious to see how you can develop it moving forward :D
I dunno, would be awesome to expand this, but for now it's only pre-Purgatory ;)
- Neovres
Alright, thank you for the conversation Scott, it was a pleasure talking to you :] Is there anything else you want to add? Any last words for the interview?
No no, just it, hope it wasn't boring haha hope you guys hear of me again soon :p
- Neovres
Wasn't boring at all, don't even worry, and we look forward to speaking to you again!
