BOLAS BOLAS BOLAS!!!
―Team Bolas
Team Bolas was the Red Team formed to compete in the Purgatory Event. Their team leader was Philza[1] as chosen by unanimous decision and their name, first suggested as "Team Balls"[2] then evolving into "Team Bolas" both suggested by Jaiden[3].
They are the winners of the original Purgatory Event.
Themed Skins[]
Significant Locations[]
The Starter Base[]
Bolas initially set up in the small island they arrived on, surrounded by the Savanna. Their items, storage and wheat farm were scattered all over the surface, but after a ransacking by Soulfire on the first day they shifted their chests and refrigerators into a conspicuous hole on a hill. They did hide valuables more secretly behind the walls of the hole. A tiny build made by Foolish at the end of the first day became somewhat of a meeting point among Bolas members… and their enemies.
Continuously getting unwanted visits by other teams - especially by BadBoyHalo and the Soulfire team in general - as well as falling victim to spawn killing, members of Bolas began decorating the island with their own blood and bodies, behaving more cult like by the day in their spiral into insanity.
Eventually, they decided to shift bases, leaving their island entirely in hopes of a more secretive base unknown by their rivals.
Bolas's Secret Base[]
Bolas moved northwards into the Mesa biome, closer to the Global Spawn. They settled themselves in the heart of a cavern between mountains; now with a much more inconspicuous entrance. Even with lower chances of being found, Bolas continued hiding their actual storage behind the walls and corners of the cave. Cellbit dug out a hole deep under the base to store Bolas' more precious items, then finished it off by hiding an elevator to said hole under a waterfall.
They remained undiscovered and undisturbed until the introduction of the Bounty System. Through it, BadBoyHalo located Philza on the map while he was inside the base. After an ambush by Bad and Tubbo individually, Bolas had to bid farewell to the beloved base.
The Final Bolas Base[]
Team Bolas moved back into their savanna island. Being rushed yet fewer in players online while transferring storage, they spent less time and effort on the secrecy of their third base. The team dug to bedrock and carved out a man-made cave, despite the risk of being easily exposed with the map’s layers feature.
Indeed, Tubbo found the base that way the same day they moved in. Though he kept that to himself and chose not to attack, he did sneak in and steal Etoiles’ grappling squok, revealing to Bolas that the base had actually already been found. Nevertheless they stayed, tired of constantly moving bases.

Team Strengths[]
- Philza is well experienced in PvP, especially with long range weapons. He commands respect from the entirety of Team Bolas. With just a few words of encouragement, he easily motivates the team.
- Carre is highly skilled at close combat PvP, winning most of his fights against other teams.
- Cellbit's well thought out and executed strategies, as well as his clear team delegating helped Team Bolas win not just their daily wins, but also the Egg Wars.
- Charlie Slimecicle is an excellent roleplayer, and he effortlessly brings laughs out of everyone. This helped Bolas' spirits and energy stay more relaxed and fun despite the stressful environment of Purgatory.
- Baghera is extremely loyal, carrying out tasks and chores that contributed to their wins. She too kept team spirits high as she entertained her teammates with her jokes.
- Foolish stands unparalleled when it comes to building, but his PvP skills and clever thinking are impressive as well.
- Jaiden's patience against other teams remains unmatched. She also played a master manipulator against the other teams, painting herself and her team as "weak" to keep the enemy teams' focus on each other instead of on Bolas.

Team Relationships/Roles[]
Roles[]
Philza was chosen to be the leader of the team and instantly gained the respect of his teammates. Phil has proven himself to be a trustworthy and protective leader, as evidenced by the team feeling lost and desperate in his absence. All members respect Phil's decisions and consistently seek his opinion on what to do. Without imposing anything on them, Phil encourages reflection on their actions and offers solutions, since he has a lot of knowledge of Minecraft.
As a result, he is seen almost as a fatherly figure within the team, often referred to as "Dad" or "Crowfather" by some of the others. In the end, Phil took on the responsibility of fighting for the team's victory, leading the entire team to rally behind him, cheering his name. Ultimately, they emerged victorious, prompting praise for Phil's excellent work and leadership, characterized by effective communication among team members.
Foolish played a significant role in Team Bolas, being adept at both PvP and resource gathering due to his luck. He gained his team an edge in the Egg Wars with a grand base built in an impressively short amount of time. Then, with Cellbit’s confusion-inducing maze idea as well as Foolish assisting Philza eliminate Team Green Ninja’s egg, they secured their victory. Deservedly, Foolish earned heaps of praise.
Foolish often travelled with his Pocket Horse, helping him move swiftly around the island. He thus revealed the idea to the rest of the team and helped scour and capture speedy horses for them too.
Foolish fought valiantly in Warzone Flag and carried out spur of the moment yet clever strategies. His last minute attempts to capture enemy flags and get rid instead of turning them in saved him precious seconds and ultimately led to Team Bolas winning the second round. His stealth and usage of the invisibility potion in the third round did not go unacknowledged either, even by his rivals.
Charlie was the one who suggested the idea of forming a gas mask cult after being repeatedly killed by other teams, ultimately shaping the identity of the team. Despite Charlie claiming not to be very experienced in Minecraft, he proved to be a significant asset to the team by collecting resources and participating in various events whenever possible.
Cellbit is an excellent strategist with great intelligence and communication skills, that even before Purgatory his teammates had a lot of trust in him. According to team leader Philza, he knows Cellbit can lead the team in his absence.
During Egg Wars, Cellbit constructed the labyrinth and alone took on the responsibility of hiding their egg; though his teammates were left in the dust on the egg's location, Bolas displayed blind trust with no questions asked. His strategies worked so well that Green Ninjas never managed to find the egg, and Bolas ultimately won the mini-event.
Cellbit showed great commitment to his team - he kept them focused, delegated tasks and kept up motivation with rationality and problem solving. He even dedicated his time and effort offline into improving in PVP to better their chances against rivals.
Baghera showed complete devotion to her team as she carried out tedious tasks and logged in during what were really late hours for her. Before finding out about the daily playtime limit, she went as far as to consider sacrificing her daily routine for the two weeks of Purgatory. During Egg Wars, she assisted Cellbit in building the labyrinth and with her chainsaw proved a terrifying force capable of breaking armours.
With Charlie, the duo can be extremely comedic; they somehow lessened the team’s stress with their chaotic energy together. They were so effective, they managed to cause the entire team to turn into entertaining chaos.
Despite her manic moments, Baghera raised her teammates' spirits and morale each day from her sole joy of spending time with them.
Carre was the least familiar member to the rest of the team at the start, due to him not logging in much before. However, he very soon revealed how experienced he was in PvP when he effortlessly defended their base from Soulfire. While his teammates struggled to stay alive on the day they arrived in Purgatory, he gathered resources to ensure his team’s survival in the upcoming days.
Carre typically remained quiet and reserved, but he quickly gained his team’s love and adoration anyway; when he’d log off the others fell into despair, and other times his absence was felt as Team Bolas expressed missing him.
In the following days Carre would continue to aid his team in completing tasks and eliminating rivals. Despite describing them as “crazy,” he bonded with his teammates and eventually donned a gas mask.
Jaiden plays a crucial role within the team, consistently boosting team morale and reliably completing quests. Additionally, she has earned the respect of her teammates for being a skilled manipulator.
Jaiden was initially spawnkilled by BadBoyHalo on the Blue team, but ElQuackity intervened, saving her. In return, Jaiden allowed ElQuackity to spawnkill her, helping Green team advance. Unbeknownst to Blue team, Jaiden had brokered a truce with Green, making it appear as though she was escaping them. Blue team pretended to be Jaiden's saviours, criticising ElQuackity's spawnkilling as unfair, despite their own hypocrisy.
Pierre pledged to take Jaiden to Green for revenge, intending to spawnkill Roier. Jaiden, however, warned Roier about Bad and Pierre's presence at the Green base. Seizing the opportunity, Jaiden escaped, stole their trade goblin, and left the scene. Throughout these events, Jaiden had been manipulating both sides, making them believe she and the Red team were their allies.
Although never officially participating in the event, Slimecicle logged into Wilbur's account during the second round of Warzone Flag, using a soundboard with Wilbur's voice that he had arranged beforehand. "Wilbur" managed to eliminate several players from other teams, leading other members to comment that Charlie played better as Wilbur than himself, a sentiment Charlie eventually agreed with.
Relationships[]
Team Bolas did not trust Tubbo whatsoever at the start of the event after he and members of Team Soulfire had killed them in their own home on the first day. However, as time went on and they saw how despite being team leader, some of Soulfire weren't listening to him and began feeling more sympathetic towards him. Cellbit told him how if he ever wanted to join them he was welcome to, others agreeing and telling him he just needed to put on the mask, by the end of Day 13 even Phil had personally invited him to join Bolas[4]. By the end of the event Bolas felt that Tubbo was an amazing and honorable leader despite the hardships he had gone through.
Even though Cellbit had a good relationship with Tina while she had been allocated to her team during the Warzones event, he took great pleasure in killing her and Bagi. He found it very funny when he killed one in front of the other, laughing at their reactions as they care about each other so much.
Despite being against both Team Soulfire and Team Green Ninjas, Bolas took a particular dislike towards Soulfire after some of their members used Bolas as easy targets, repeatedly killing them on the first day. Soulfire caused their decent into madness on the first day when they threw themselves into a campfire and battled each other, creating a pile of bodies.
BadBoyHalo frequently spawnkilled Bolas team members and sparked a feeling of fear and dislike among them, especially with Charlie who has a particularly negative view of the man after being killed over and over by him.
Trivia[]
- The origin of the name "Bolas" comes from a meme frequently shared among the members, introduced by Jaiden, of Bonnie from Five Nights at Freddy's with an exaggerated expression of shock and with text on top saying "Balls ?!?!?!?!?”.
- The team's eventual logo is Bonnie from FNAF's head coloured red, wearing a top hat and a gas mask.
- The team wear gas masks and have a war cry, behaving as if they're a cult, chanting "Bolas Bolas Bolas" in a muffled manner constantly, such as in celebration or when attacking other teams.
- Team Bolas have the smallest number of active players among the three teams, with almost half of the original members not showing up on any day. Those being Felps, Germán, Rubius, Vegetta, Wilbur Soot and Willyrex.
- Wilbur technically logged in one time in the entirety of the Purgatory Event, though it was just Slimecicle in disguise.
